Dress Whip-up

First of all, I’d like to say that I’m really enjoying sewing again! I think I’ve discovered something about myself that I didn’t know. This girl doesn’t really enjoying sewing when doing “sew” by a pattern. You like that play on words? Hardy Har. If you’ve ever tried following patterns, opening up the ridiculous instructions, turning them upside-down, and then right-side up wondering, ‘What the heck?!” Then you know what I’m talking about. Of course, I’ve learned Oh So Much from following those things, so I owe them that. But let’s face it, they’re not what I’d describe as fun.Well, allowing myself the freedom to design a pattern has been very fun! Oh the high that comes when figuring the design, dimensions, lengths, widths, seam allowances, pieces, when to sew what, and stitches to use. I have freedom! My personality has always thrived on freedom. So on to the actual whip-up…

My daughter got a hand-me-down dress from the neighbors little girl, and it fit her well. The style was simple, so I thought I could re-create it. Really proud of myself because it’s the first time I’ve ever worked with anything stretch. I made it from a jersey knit I purchased at Hobby Lobby. Here’s the Hand-me-Down:

Oh so cutesy fabric:
