Hello Kitty Toddler-Pack

HelloKitty (3 of 3)

Well hello, everyone! I’m back and ready to give you more and try pumping out everything I can muster while caring for two kids. If you are a mom, then you can certainly relate to what I would call “block time organizing”. Whatever time you have between feeding, playing, teaching, bathing, kissing bumps and bruises, and hugging your little ones is  a very small window you have for accomplishing anything else. Some of those empty “blocks” might just be filled with you stepping into the other room, counting down from 10, and silently screaming and pulling your hair, but it’s all in a days work for mommies. We take on the task and are happy to endure these crazies because they are fun and challenging, and we are proud of our motherly role in their lives.

This Hello Kitty toddler backpack was a must, because my 4 year old girlie, along with many other girls,  is crazy about Kitty right now. It was my plan to have it completed for her birthday, but I got too busy party planning. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a maid and party planner on payroll, so that I could spend all my time fulfilling my crafting desires?

Tie Onesie

Annnd here you go! Here is the birthday shirt for Lan’s first birthday. I’ve always liked those silly hand-made tie shirts. Can’t help it, I do. Lan had some onesies that he’d outgrown, so I thought they’d be great for the project. Best of all, it was free fabric! He had only worn each onesie maybe 1 time. What a great way to get a bit more use out of them.

Big Sister tank

BigSisterTank (11)

Hello, Everyone. My next few posts will be about my preparations for my youngest’s first birthday. I always wished that I had made a bigger deal out of my daughter’s first birthday. Being a new mom, I just didn’t have the energy to pull it off. Now I am a bit more seasoned or possibly just accustomed to the year long sleep deprivation. So, here is the big sister shirt I made for Jadyn. She will be the birthday boy’s right-hand gal helping him open his presents.

Pretty in Pink

PinkRuffleDress (7)

More fun remaking dresses! It’ll be fun looking back at this one knowing that Jadyn picked the fabric and remembering how special she feels when I make things just for her. See with the newest addition to the family, my oldest sweet girl has times where I can see that she feels a bit displaced. While I know it’s only natural it still breaks a mother’s heart, and just like most moms I have to step in and make sure she realizes just how much I love her.

Look at this!

I’m always looking for inspiration from others who have honed their skills a bit more than my own. Look at this adorable jersey knit dress I came across done by Cami on Tidbits. She calls it Business in the Front-Party in the Back and I love it! The colors are perfect and the ruffles are so fun. She made it from t-shirts! Wow! Talk about an amazing way to reuse. This could have been a bag to drop off at goodwill, but she took it and made it something very special.

Had a fabulous weekend! It was my wedding-anniversary-celebration-weekend. We’ve been together for 11 years now and married for 4! I feel so sad for people who tire of a relationship once it passes the initial fluttery stage. Truth is, while the flutters are fun and all, those feelings are not love and if you keep chasing that feeling you will never find it. I would say around 5-6 years my husband and I’s relationship started to become even more and more fulfilling. As you become more open to each other and understanding of the others short comings things are really spectacular. I’m amazed at how far we’ve come. My husband has made it funny and goofy all along the way, and I’ve added the cutesy yet seriousness to the mix. He brings music and I observations. The kids have changed  both of us individually and as a couple tremendously! I don’t think you can know your spouse so truly as when they interact with their children. There is a side of them that will only emerge then. I’m just so happy to be sharing this life and experience with the boy I met way back when I was only 16. We’ve been just what the other needed ever since. Love you, Davin.

Dress Whip-up

First of all, I’d like to say that I’m really enjoying sewing again! I think I’ve discovered something about myself that I didn’t know. This girl doesn’t really enjoying sewing when doing “sew” by a pattern. You like that play on words? Hardy Har. If you’ve ever tried following patterns, opening up the ridiculous instructions, turning them upside-down, and then right-side up wondering, ‘What the heck?!” Then you know what I’m talking about. Of course, I’ve learned Oh So Much from following those things, so I owe them that. But let’s face it, they’re not what I’d describe as fun.
